Copper Creek Dressage Series Growing and Thriving

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

WILLIAMSTON, MI – Forget the gloomy Michigan economic news. This summer, there’s a bright spot just a half hour east of the state’s capital. In the charming town of Williamston, Michigan, the Copper Creek Dressage Series is growing and thriving.  “We have been absolutely delighted with the participation and the success of our first two shows,” said Show Manager Sandy Hunt.  The Spring Dressage @ Copper Creek show in May began with an excellent roster of competitors and the June Dressage @ Copper Creek show filled all stalls with an increased number of horses and exhibitors.

“We like to think of ourselves as a boutique show,” said Hunt. “We are the right size to give riders new to approved shows the support they need and at the same time to provide the best conditions we can for experienced competitors. Judging from the comments we receive from our exhibitors, it’s working.”

The series finale takes place July 18 and 19 with Summer Dressage @ Copper Creek. Hunt anticipates another excellent show and is working to provide a few special treats. Prizes will include popular books by Michigan State University McPhail Chair Dr. Hilary Clayton. The Rowe Memorial trophy will be awarded again at the July show.  Said Hunt, “Throughout the series, local businesses have provided such fun prizes as gift certificates to Williamston restaurants, original artwork and even gift certificates for art lessons from noted equine artist Karen Bartlett. Other surprises are in the works.”

Copper Creek Dressage Series has been called “the most exhibitor-friendly show” in the area. With its setting in the historic community of Williamston and close to shopping and entertainment in the Okemos-East Lansing area, this show makes showing a pleasure. Once again Gracie’s Place is our food concession and exhibitors continue to appreciate the quality of food available. The Comfort Inn of Okemos offers exhibitors special USEF-member rates.
