The temperature was soaring but so was the enthusiasm of exhibitors as the first of two days of Championship competition got underway Friday at the 2019 National Dressage Pony Cup (NDPC) and Small Horse Championship Show with 250 entries competing across 51 championship divisions.

“Even with a record heat wave sweeping across the country, as the saying goes ‘the show must go on’ and we had a fantastic first day of competition,” said NDPC founder Jenny Carol. “I’m so proud of how everyone rose to the occasion today and had great rides while still taking such good care of themselves and their mounts, and now we’re all looking forward to a great line-up of our second-round classes tomorrow and the chance to celebrate a new group of champions.”
