With the breaking news that the FEI World Equestrian Games is coming to Tryon, North Carolina in September of 2018, the FEI sport Combined Driving will host World Four In Hand Champonships, attracting top drivers and horses from around the world. A sport which is extemely popular in Europe, the United States currenly offers 4-5 International level events. The logistics of bringing 5 horses per team, 2 carriages per driver, with a minimum of 8 harnesses per driver, and the required people and additional equipment needed is a process which will take all of the less than 2 years to plan.

American drivers Chester Weber, Misdee Wrigley Miller, Lisa Stroud, and others have been doing the trans Atlantic trip annually, often using ships to send their large rigs which hauls horses and equipment to events.

The Four In Hand Championships was last held in the USA during the FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games in 2010 and introduced many American spectators to the exciting sport.

Check out this video of the 2016 FEI World Four-In- Hand Championships which was won by Australian Boyd Excell, the only driver to win all three phases, Dressage, Marathon and Cones.
