Allie Schmidt wasn’t sure what was happening when her boyfriend of three and half years, Brydon Clark walked into the arena as she finished her Intermediare 1 Freestyle.

“After 3 months of meticulous planning, sneaky phone calls and talking with stewards to make sure she didn’t get disqualified,” Brydon announced, “I proposed at the World Equestrian Centre after she completed her last show on our Florida trip.”

Brydon did not know much about horses when he and Allie first met, but an adventurer and animal lover he quickly realized horses were “pretty cool”. An accomplished photographer he is also is currently and apprentice saddler, in addition to helping manage Allie’s business and horses. Oh yes, and he now owns his own horse, a gift from Allie, so he’s a keeper!

It was the perfect first stop, on their way home to Waterloo, Ontario, Canada after a successful season in Wellington, Florida. They even managed a quick side trip to visit the Manatees at Silver Springs.

Allie and Brydon with her KWPN Gelding Balthazar (affectionately known as Dino) are headed back to their base in Canada where she continues to grow her business, Allie Schmidt Dressage, teaching, training, competing and breeding “happy horses”.

Now with some added bling on her left hand.
