Brook Ledge – Proud Title Sponsor of The Inaugural Horse Farms Forever Conservation Summit – Here’s Why

On Thursday November 19, 2020 Horse Farms Forever will be presenting the first Conservation Summit at Golden Ocala, which will also be a virtual and live streaming event. Borrok Ledge is the title sponsor, and this is why.

For us at Brook Ledge it is not just about preserving horses to keep our own business viable – it is about preserving the the equestrian life in Marion County which is not possible without the land and lifestyle equestrian sport brings to this region. The unique quality of the land and mineral based soil can only be found in three regions in the world. Once land has gone to highway or a developer, there is no getting it back. It is critical to take the steps now in order to preserve what is there.

Brook Ledge has owned a small 20 acre farm in Ocala Florida since 1995. We consider it to be our home, not just our hub.  Partnering with Horse Farms Forever is our way of making a commitment to the future of Marion county for generations to come.  This year we have the honor of joining the Conservation Summit as the Title Sponsor.

Ocala and Marion county are the spine of the horse industry in Florida, if not the country. Trademarked as the  “Horse Capital of the World” as far back as the 1950’s, it’s certainly grown into it’s name even if it wasn’t in the beginning.

Over $2 billion, that’s right, a billion, is the impact of the equine industry in Marion County according to a study conducted as recently as 2017.  Ocala Breeder Sales, HITS Horse Show, Live Oak International, and The Florida Horse Park are among the known local venues featuring diversified International and world class equestrian competition.

The impact of the WORLD Equestrian Center opening its doors in 2021 only adds to the already booming equestrian influence of this Central Florida region, equidistant to both Florida coasts by no more than a two hour drive. Non-equestrians also benefit from the beauty of Marion county making it a desirable place to live for those who inhabit it today.

Multiple training centers for racing and diverse equestrian disciplines, rehabilitation, layup and quarantine facilities, breeding farms, hobby farms, veterinary clinics, retirement facilities, backyard companions, and horse rescue, contribute to the growing numbers of  80,000 horses and over 1,200 horse farms. The biggest challenge for real estate companies in this region is finding places to sell. As soon as something is listed, it’s sold.

People and their horses are migrating to Marion County for the quality of life offered here and help by the Farmland Preservation. Brook Ledge is committed to working together to help support the integrity and preserve what has made life here for horses and humans why we have chosen this area.
