Brian Hafner has already competed successfully as an FEI Young Rider in 2009 with his horse Lombardo LHF a 12 year old Hannoverian gelding by Londonberry out of Waluga. This weekend the pair began their Open CDI experience together at the Dressage Affaire and very successfully placed third in Friday’s PSG CDI with a 67.193% and second in Saturday’s Intermediere 1 CDI with a 68.246%. Hafner recognizes that being able to transition successfully into Open CDI’s from Young Riders with the same horse is unique.

He stated, “I am very lucky to have a talented horse that I can keep going with. I have had Lombardo since he was four, and we are very bonded. It is wonderful to be able to keep going with the same horse.” When asked if he has the Pan American Games as a goal, he replied, “We are testing the waters to see how well we do in the CDI’s. There are so many good horses out there. We will do our best and see how it goes. I want to be out there and have fun doing it. We also have the Brentina Cup to fall back on. ” Hafner has recently competed with Lombardo in his first baby Grand Prix thus earning his USDF gold medal on this reliable mount!
