With Eminence, Holzer also placed third in Friday’s CDI Grand Prix. Eminence, a 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion, is owned by Diana Rose and since both Rose and Holzer have been away much of the summer, Eminence had quite a bit of down time the past couple of months. Hence, Holzer was very pleased with his win considering the lack of summer training. “He’s a fabulous horse. I’m very lucky to ride him and we’ve had a good time,” she said.
Sonnenstern is owned by Holzer’s friend Eliane Cordia of the Jewel Court Stud family in the Netherlands, which hosted Canadian team members during their training and showing trip to Europe this summer. Holzer said she took over the ride because her friend was pregnant. She competed Sonnenstern, an eight-year-old Oldenburg stallion while in Europe and has been quite pleased with his success. “He’s been amazing,” she said.
Coming in second behind Holzer in both the CDI Prix St. Georges and the Intermediaire I was Heather Mason riding Glen Emeril. That pair took the win in the CDI Intermediaire I Freestyle with a score of 71.750 percent. In CDI Young Rider competition, New York’s Meagan Davis followed up her success at the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions with wins on Bentley in both the CDI Young Rider Individual and in the CDI Young Rider Freestyle with scores of 69 percent in each.
