Painting Proceeds to Aid Equine Welfare Programs

Lisa Marie Bishop, a highly sought after artist whose work graces the walls of art collectors and top equestrians worldwide, is again partnering with Brooke USA to help raise funds for its equine welfare programs in the developing world.

Lisa Marie’s works will feature at several of Brooke USA’s upcoming 2019 events during its ‘Paint Wellington Orange,’ a one month fund-raising campaign in Wellington, Florida, which culminates in its fourth-annual Sunset Polo & White Party, the soiree of the winter equestrian season.

Combining two of her passions, horses and art, Lisa Marie strives to capture the essence, energy, and power of horses onto canvas using mixed media, including oil and acrylic, by employing abstract strokes indicating movement and grace. Her unique works have been acquired by top equestrians including Lauren Spreiser, Jessica Jo Tate, Endel Ots, Mary Phelps, and Olympians Juan Matute Sr. and Karen O’Connor to name a few.

Bishop’s original showjumping painting “Round One,” will be featured at Brooke USA’s Paint Wellington Orange kick-off event Lunch and Learn, on Thursday, February 28 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. 10% of the sale’s proceeds of the painting will go to Brooke USA as well as 10% of any commissioned works requested that day and throughout the entire month of Paint Wellington Orange.

A large selection of Lisa Marie’s stunning works will be available for purchase at J.J. Tate’s Birthday Bash on March 9, 2019. Tate, a top dressage rider and Brooke USA Ambassador, is hosting her own birthday celebration in honor of Brooke USA, and Bishop is again donating 10% proceeds of sales at the event to Brooke USA.

One of Lisa Marie’s original dressage masterpieces, “World Cup Piaffe,” will be a featured auction item during the Touch of Orange Dinner at Brooke USA’s Sunset PoloTM & White Party, on March 22 at the Wanderers Club in Wellington. Over 1,000 people will be in attendance including the who’s who of the South Florida, Palm Beach and Wellington social scenes. VIP guests will have the chance to place a bid and meet Lisa Marie. 100% proceeds from the sale of the painting will go to Brooke USA.

Having rescued many four-legged creatures in need herself - including horses and ponies that would have otherwise faced an unfortunate ending - Lisa Marie is passionate about Brooke USA’s mission.

“Brooke USA’s continuous efforts to help working equines worldwide and the families that rely on them to survive is phenomenal,” said Lisa Marie. “It’s a privilege to once again support an organization that is so close to my heart.”

“We are delighted that Lisa Marie Bishop is a part of Paint Wellington Orange and our other exciting events this winter in Wellington,” said Emily Dulin, Executive Director of Brooke USA. “Her artwork is amazing and we deeply appreciate her generosity and continued support of Brooke USA.”

A former professional equestrian photographer, Lisa Marie had to change direction when, at 24, she was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease which has caused her to become legally blind. Remarkably, although she cannot see faces, detail, and some color, she is still able to paint with incredible passion, skill and talent, making her a much sought-after artist.

“My passion for horses spills into my painting,” described Lisa Marie. “I don't paint the horse, I paint the energy and power I feel when I’m around them. I close my eyes and listen to the hoof beats. I wake up thinking about horses, and go to bed the same way.
