Lexington, KY - October 15, 2014 - The National Horse Show announced today that popular Canadian equestrian, Angela Covert, will be joining the commentary team for this year's live webcasts of the evening's main events. She will be partnered with play by play man Brian Lookabill for the prime time shows. The top-rated National Horse Show returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, on October 28 - November 2, 2014.

The webcast is produced by Pyramid Sports Timing, one of the top producers of equestrian competitions in the United States and will air on the USEF Network. Special guest, previous Maclay champion, Lilli Keenan joins Lookabill for the coverage of the ASPCA Maclay on Sunday. In addition, all morning and afternoon rounds will be streamed live without commentary.

With $755,000 in prize money offered, this year's National Horse Show offers an International Open Jumpers with $460,000 in prize money, while the top rated hunter sections have a total purse of $195,00.

Meanwhile, $100,000 in total is offered to the Amateur-Owner and U 25 Jumper sections.

The National Horse Show, for the fourth year in a row, received a top ranking from NARG, the North American Riders Group and was again named the Show Hunter Hall of Fame Horse Show of the Year in back to back years.

The National, in choosing Covert as their color commentator, was searching for a fresh, new voice explained Mason Phelps, Jr., the President of the National Horse Show Association of America. "The National has been improving and evolving each year and we thought a commentator with a vast knowledge of the sport, yet a fresh, new internet voice would suit us best. That's why we chose Angela," he explained."She's got a tremendous personality and possesses a great knowledge of our sport. I'm anxious to hear her go to work."

"I have actually never done TV or Internet commentary," smiled Covert. "I guess the closest I have come would be teaching clinics/symposiums and once I did the live commentary for a young horse free jumping demonstration, not nearly the same thing! But, I am very much looking forward to jumping in and giving it a go at the National Horse Show. I have to admit that, the fact that I will be working with Brain Lookabill, is a big plus," she smiled. "He has so much experience and knowledge and is definitely one of the best in the business."

"Even as a Canadian equestrian, I have always considered the National Horse Show to be one of the most prestigious horse shows in North America," she continued. "When I was very young, The iconic National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden was part of the indoor circuit with our Royal Winter Fair. Despite the fact that the horse show has changed venues a few times since those days, finding a new home in Kentucky a few years ago, the organizers have somehow managed to preserve that prestigious feel, which is truly remarkable," Covert said.
