Adult Clinic Conquering the Levels Training through Third With Nancy Later Lavoie at Ashby Stock Farm, July 8th – 10th, 2016
Thursday, June 9, 2016
Consider this for a great weekend for riders and auditors both to prepare for the show season and Regional Championships from the trainers' eye as well as the judge. Lessons will embrace each level, training, first, second and third level as well as what it takes to move from one of these levels to the next.
This clinic will be open to Region 8 Adult Amateurs and Jr/YR’s and funding for them to participate can be done through the Rene Isler Fund at The Dressage Foundation and Dressage 4Kids. Only 14 riders can be accepted.
The clinic will be held at The Ashby Stock Farm and will be taught by Nancy Later Lavoie and Andrea McCauley and the judge for Sunday will be Susanne Handler.
This weekend will be not only helpful to the participants but will be geared toward auditors. Participants and auditors will be welcomed to the farm Friday afternoon where the participants will be welcome to ride their horses in the arena and get settled in.
July 8 - Friday evening Andrea and Nancy will give a lecture about what is expected at the levels, training level through third level. The talk will be about moving up the levels, as well as prerequisites for each level, seat, application of the aids and gaining points.
The lecture will be followed by an informal barbecue at the farm.
July 9 - Saturday we will offer private lessons taught both by Andrea and Nancy.
There will be a lunchtime lecture about grooming tips, braiding and tack fitting.
Saturday night will be a social dinner with question and answer session.
July 10 - Sunday will have a ride a test with Susanne Handler.
Each rider will warm up with either Andrea or Nancy then ride their chosen test while Susanne talks about it over the sound system. Susanne will make comments to aid the rider to make the movements better as well as tell the audience and rider the
points for certain movements.
After the test we will go over the overall impression and give suggestions to warm up the movements as well as the mindset needed to create a better overall impression. Then the rider will be able to do the test again, after a brief warm up and Susanne will score the test for the rider with comments and points.
Dinner Friday and Saturday night as well as breakfast and lunch Saturday and Sunday will be included. Auditor question and answer periods will be available.
Warm up indoors is available if the weather is inclement. The indoor is well insulated and very cool in
the summer months.
Permanent stabling is available.
