DRESSAGE AT DEVON

Save the date - September 28 – October 3, 2021
“The Board, partners and volunteers are busy getting ready for Dressage at Devon. In addition to the largest open breed show in the world, top-level performances and the Fall Festival, we are pleased to announce show grounds updates, a new silent auction, and more,” said Lori Kaminski, President and CEO. “We are so excited to be able to have an in-person event, including of course, competitors, sponsors, vendors and spectators."
Exciting Upgrades at the Devon Horse Show Grounds
The Devon Horse Show and County Fair has been hard at work throughout 2020 and 2021 making numerous upgrades to the show grounds.
More than 500 stalls have been reconstructed and screenings have been added to create better footing. The majority of the barns also have new exterior walls, stable doors have been replaced, and the iconic Devon cupolas have been rebuilt – all while maintaining the historic beauty of the show grounds.
“These are significant improvements, making the show grounds safer and more comfortable. We are very pleased that Dressage at Devon competitors will be able to benefit from these improvements at our 2021 show,” said Lori Kaminski, President and CEO of DAD.
Vaulting Exhibitions
Vaulting enjoys an ancient heritage and can probably be described as one of the oldest known forms of equestrian sport. Often described as gymnastics performed on horseback, vaulting's origins can be traced back to Roman games which included acrobatic displays performed on cantering horses.
This year, DAD will host the Silver Moon Vaulters from Suffolk, Virginia. Head Coach, Cindy Rohrer and Assistant Coach Lucy Rohrer will bring vaulters, their horse Fancy (a very forgiving horse but don’t go near her ears) and barrels – their vaulting training tool for those who want to try this exciting equestrian discipline.
Their exhibitions will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Cindy and Lucy will be on the grounds and happy to talk about vaulting and to introduce their human and equine team members.
Individual Breed Classes
The largest open breed class in the world will take place on September 28-30. One of the highlights is the Individual Breed Classes, taking place September 28. Over the years, DAD has hosted breeds from Hanoverians to Haflingers, and from Thoroughbreds to Warmbloods. Everyone will find their favorite breed.
