American Driving Society
Established in 1974, The American Driving Society, Inc. supports carriage drivers in the United States and Canada. Over 80 ADS-recognized events are held across North America each year.
The purposes of The American Driving Society, Inc. are
- to promote the best interests of the sport of driving horses and ponies to carriages, both competitively and for pleasure
- To create and maintain public interest in national and international driving events
- To educate and inform the public regarding driving methods, safety and events
- To publish information on driving methods, safety, and events
- To organize driving events and provide technical assistance to competition organizers
- To maintain a roster of officials and provide training and continuing education for them
American Driving Society Adjusts COVID Action Plan Rules
The ADS has recently released a memo to members on recent updates, which now allows competitors on carriages to not wear a mask. It will be required at other times as noted in the following statement.

Tryon CDE Announced for September at TIEC
The American Driving Society, Inc. (ADS) announced Wednesday that Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) at Tryon Resort will host the 2020 ADS North American Preliminary and Intermediate Championships at the Tryon CDE, September 17-20.
