Robert Dover

A six-time Olympian and four-time Olympic bronze medalist, Dover has earned more honors than any other U.S. dressage rider, competing in six consecutive Olympic Games and four FEI World Equestrian Games. Additionally, Dover competed in 7 World Cups, placing 4th twice and has been 7 times the U.S. National Grand Prix Champion riding 6 different horses. He also became the first American since 1960 to win the Aachen Grand Prix in 1987, something Dover considers as a distinguished moment in his career.
USA Technical Advisor and Chef d’Equipe 2013-2018
Robert Dover has served in the role as Technical Advisor and Chef d’Equipe for The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team since 2013. In 2015 Dover coached the U.S. Dressage Team to a gold medal at the Pan American Games. Under his leadership, the U.S. Dressage Team returned to the podium at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where the team won a bronze medal. In 2018 US Dressage won the Silver Medal at the FEI World Equestrian Games, Tryon.
Giving Back
In conjunction with his role in coaching the U.S. Dressage Team, Dover has been responsible for assisting in the growth of the development and pipeline programs, focused on raising the standard of excellence across all levels of dressage in the U.S. In addition, Dover was tasked with fundraising for the High Performance competitive and training programs. To that end, he was responsible for raising over $2.2 million for these programs.
Robert is equally proud of his role in creating the Equestrian Aid Foundation, which for almost 25 years has helped people living with life-threatening illnesses and injuries in the horse world.
A New Era with Robert-Squared
Finally, Robert gives all credit for navigating his life, both literally and figuratively, to the love of his life, his husband, Robert Ross, with whom he has been together for 31 years. After announcing his retirement as the US Dressage Team Coach, Robert Dover and Robert Ross launched a new business Robert-Squared a handcrafted luxury line of vegan tack and apparel for the dressage, jumper, ponies, and hunter disciplines.
