Exciting news for Dressage in America. After twelve years living training and competing in Europe, Lisa Wilcox, who competed on the Untied States Dressage Team for the 2004 Jerez World Equestrian Games, and the 2006 Athens Olympic Team is coming home. Wilcox who is from a large and close knit family, has been contemplating her return since the loss of her mother in 2004, and has always found being so far away from them the hardest part of being abroad.

As an American living and competing in Europe, Wilcox has had to qualify for the USET by earning higher percentage points than her teammates qualifying in the USA. In spite of the difficulty of this situation, she succeeded in making two US Teams, and has been an invaluable asset to the United States by being a well spoken and well represented ambassador of the sport of Dressage and America in Europe. Nevertheless, she is nervous about the huge change about to take place in her life. "I left for Germany 12 years ago with no fear and great expectations. It’s odd, but now that I am returning home, I am more nervous than I was back then." Wilcox has returned to America throughout her time in Europe to do several well received and successful clinics, including the 2004 USDF Symposium. The attractive well spoken and richly experienced rider and trainer has nothing to be nervous about at all.

"I am thrilled to hear the news of Lisa’s return," said Kathy Connelly when contacted by DressageDaily. "She has amazing talent as a trainer, rider, and competitor, and a great gift to American dressage."

Robert Dover also expressed his excitement in hearing Lisa will be making her home back in the United States. "Lisa Wilcox is by far one of the most elegant and classically beautiful riders on the international Dressage circuit. She is a temendous asset to the United States and we welcome her home warmly."

DressageDaily will be having a welcome reception for Lisa during the 2006 "Inspection Reception" which will follow the Horse Insepection at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby.

Wilcox plans on moving to Florida in March 2006, where she will set up a small training operation with her sister Stephanie and long time friend and manager Cindy Snowden. Lisa’s plan is to take no more than 11 horses in training so she can focus on the horses and clients/students riding with her. Wilcox will resume the ride Snowden’s horse, Dolomit, with whom she made the USET short list for the FEI 5-Year Old World Young Horse Championships in Verden.
