The United States Dressage Federation™ (USDF) is thrilled to announce that Delia Frenzel has been named the 2025 USDF Youth Volunteer of the Year. Delia is the sister of the 2024 USDF Youth Volunteer of the Year Lillian Frenzel. Each year, this award bestows prestige and honor upon one outstanding youth volunteer who has contributed, both nationally and locally, to USDF and dressage.

Nominated by South Carolina Dressage & Combined Training Association (SCDCTA) Secretary Lisa Hinkle, Delia is described as the epitome of the ideal junior volunteer and an invaluable ambassador for SCDCTA, USDF, and the sport. An ever-present figure at the club’s shows and clinics, Delia’s volunteer efforts run the gamut; from fundraising, test running, and arena set up, to organizing and encouraging other youth volunteers. Delia’s cheerful demeanor, reliability, and dedicated service have made her fundraising activities not only a staple at SCDCTA shows, but a welcomed presence at other local shows as well.

Efforts and Contributions

Delia’s efforts and contributions are most notably seen in the success of SCDCTA’s Annual Junior Clinic, which brings in a well-respected clinician, experienced in developing young riders, some of whom have come through the USDF youth pipeline. Through her fundraising and promotional efforts related to this clinic and its resulting success and positive reception, Delia’s service to the mission of USDF ‘education, recognition of achievement, and promotion of dressage’ is undeniable.

When commenting on Delia’s selection as this year’s USDF Youth Volunteer of the Year, USDF National Youth Programs Committee Chair Roz Kinstler stated, “It’s always impressive to watch our Youth riders clearly show their love of our sport. This year’s YVOY is a shining example of this dedication. Delia shows this in many ways. From offering a variety of help at her local shows to developing programs to include other youth dressage riders, it’s obvious she’s excited about dressage and wanting to share that. These types of young dressage enthusiasts are the future of our sport. Certainly, we’re in good hands.”

Awards

Delia will be presented with a perpetual trophy, donated by the Akin family of Warwick, NY, in honor of Lendon Gray, which is on permanent display in the Roemer Foundation/USDF Hall of Fame. She will also receive a “keeper” trophy, be recognized on stage during the Salute Gala held during the 2025 Adequan®/USDF Annual Convention, in Lexington, and be featured in the yearbook issue of USDF Connection.
