The final week of the Ocala Spring Classics wrapped up at the Florida Horse Park Sunday, and the jumpers were out in full force for the final week!

David Jennings of Franklin, Tennessee, and The Presley Partners’ Presley Degli Assi capped off the week with a trip to the winner’s circle in Sunday’s $35,000 Sidelines Grand Prix.

Twelve Advanced

A field of 31 horse and rider teams tackled the course designed by Paul Jewell of Windsor, New Jersey. Twelve advanced to the jump-off round, with a time allowed of 48 seconds.

Ryan Genn of Wellington, Florida and Bridlebourne Stables, LLC’s Venezia D’Austral Z were the first of twelve jump off rounds. Their clear jump-off round in a time of 39.796 seconds set the new time to beat.

Dominique Damico of Ocala, Florida, and her own Cava, followed in the order and their clear jump off round in 39.417 seconds took the lead.

Short-Lived

The lead was short-lived when Vicente Guillen and Tranquility Farm’s Evolene De Carles followed Damico. Their fault-free time of 37.742 seconds moved them into first place, but again, the lead was short-lived.

David Jennings and Presley Degli Assi were up next and, with a fault-free jump-off round in 37.101 seconds, took the lead.

Jennings said, “Paul Jewel set a challenging but fair course. I watched the first two jump off, and they looked blistering fast. My strategy was to try and be as smooth and efficient as possible while leaving all the jumps up, and fortunately, everything showed itself on the forward step!”

Placements

Yann Candele of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, and Kama Godek’s Conny 409 followed, and with their time of 52.623 seconds and nine faults, earned a twelfth-place finish.

Jenni McAllister of Ocala, Florida and Bertrand Legriffon’s Toulamba were up next and with their fault free jump off round in 39.629 seconds, earned sixth place.

Tracy Fenney of Ocala and MTM Farm’s MTM My Life Be Like earned eight jump faults with a time of 37.208 and finished in eleventh overall.

Schuyler Dayner of Ocala, Florida and Andrea Wolley’s For Real Z turned in a clear jump off round, and their time of 40.664 seconds earned them an eighth place.

Matthias Holberg of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and his own Rocketman followed. Their four-fault jump-off round in a time of 38.811 seconds awarded them ninth place.

Paige Jones of Landenburg, Pennsylvania, aboard Amberfax Farm, Inc.’s Jamaica turned in a clear jump off round in 38.220 seconds and won third place. Manuel Torres of Ocala, Florida, and his own Conthalando PS posted a clear jump off round and their time of 39.389 seconds, earned them a fourth place ribbon.

Last to Go

Ryan Genn returned as the last to go in the jump-off with Bridlebourne Stables, LLC’s Concenthaga PS. Their four fault round in 39.343 seconds earned them a tenth place and secured the win for Jennings and Presley Degli Assi.

According to Jennings, “Elvis is turning 11 this year. I’ve had him for a year and a half, and he’s consistently placed in the ribbons in all the Grand Prix I’ve done. I had a couple of wins on him last year, and he really steps up when I call on him in the jump off.”

Guillen and Evolene De Carles finished in second, Damico and Cava earned a fifth placing, and Genn finished in seventh with Venezia D’Austral Z.

Jennings added, “I’ve been attending Classic Company horse shows for many years, and Bob and Allen always do a great job hosting their events.”
