Nancy M. Smith and EtiasWith Caroline Ashton's Etias, (KWPN Dutch Warmblood by Onyx) Nancy quickly excelled in qualifying competitions to become the alternate team member for the 1999 Pan American Games. Sadly they lost him to colic in September of 2003, but Nancy was confident she did all for him that she could, and his time on earth with her will always be cherished.

After Focus, there was the talented but testy Debonair (KWPN Dutch Warmblood by Wagenaar). "Debonair was one of my most joyous experiences, because he was such a challenge." recalls Nancy . "If you could convince him to let you into his world he was such a pleasure."

In 2006, Nancy can be seen in the FEI ring riding Donneur, a 9-year-old Danish gelding by Donnergraf and Donatella, a 10-year-old Westphalian mare by Diamo. Both horses are owned by Caroline Ashton, who also owned Nancy's former Pan Am team horse, Etias. Nancy has been riding horses for Caroline for well over 10 years, a testament to both of their commitment to producing top Grand Prix horses. Donneur and Donatella are on schedule for their participation in the selection trials for the Olympics in 2008. You are invited to follow their progress on Nancy's website equisentialinc.com.
