First Real Day Today at the WEG in Aachen
So, after the vet check Gil Merrick conferred with Klaus Balkenhol and then proceeded to the show office to confirm the list. The draw is later today, around 4pm and the Starting Order is expected to be posted after 6pm. Half the riders will go on Tuesday and the second half on Wednesday. We'll let you know when we know the schedule. file phelpsphoto: Leslie Morse at Aachen Then starting after 1pm, our Team had the chance to ride in the main show arena. All 4 started in the outside warm-up arena, then to the 10 minute arena, then to the Stadium. All 4 combinations looked beautiful, enough to make all of America proud. They had 20 minutes to themselves in the arena, being guided by Klaus. As they came out of the arena I heard one of the insiders comment that he believed that all 4 of our riders and horses seemed to be "coming together" at just the right time. There's no time like the present, is there? Tonight, we're invited to the home of a prestigious Aachen family. In fact each of several such generous families has invited 2 teams to a brief welcoming event. Then, back to the hotel to rest for the big day--the first day of competition at WEG 2006.
