World Equestrian Games Notes from Laura Petroff

USA Draws Lucky Number 13 - Leslie Morse and Tip Top First to Go in the Grand Prix

The draw late Moday was actually fun. The drama started early when the FEI rep pulled 18--remember there are 18 teams. Drum roll, please. Number 18, the last team in, is the Netherlands. Several minutes later the USA drew 13, which pleased them. In fact, shortly before that happened, Klaus Balkenhol had leaned over to Gil Merrick and told Gil that the USA would be #13.

And so it was. Once the draw was complete, and the times were set, Leslie was to be 15th in at 10:30am and Guenter 37th in at 3:20pm.
