Equestrian Games Journals from Aachen “Learning
From History” - Advice for WEG 2010!
No, I will not be so foolhardy as to offer advice to the terribly well prepared athletes who have just completed their efforts in Aachen. Rather, I have a handful of suggestions for the women and men down Kentucky way who have already begun their preparations for the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games. I had the pleasure of meeting many of these fine folks as they handed out posters and informational materials about the much-anticipated games on our shores to the crowds of Aachen. There was even at least one Kentucky public servant (a councilman from Lexington . . . howdy, Jay!) who made the trip across the Atlantic to pick up tidbits on how to stage such a huge undertaking. Good for them! (Since most of us are not involved in the planning nor the execution of the 2010 games, feel free to borrow any of the following that may assist you as you strategize for horse shows closer to home.) |
