Horses, History and More

Princess Haya's speech followed an array of demonstrations by various breeds, disciplines and people. A huge group of children wearing the seven colors of the Games and carrying umbrellas created the logo of Karli in the center of the arena to a roaring applause more than once throughout the ceremony.

There was a herd of 32 mares and foals that first entered the arena all free. In between demonstrations a few stilt walkers dressed in white outfits glided their way around the arena. A number of riders were featured wearing typical national costumes with each carrying a national flag.

Carriages were seen throughout the ceremony and the history of the “city of water” was showcased by Emperor Charles the Great, side saddle riders, police and more. Also included was a fabulous quadrille of the German State studs, followed by demonstrations of the seven disciplines. Then the final element was the parade of the athletes from the various countries.

At the very end they released balloons that were in the color of the disciplines.
