Notes From Rio - Let the Games Begin Hi All,Today I am starting with a bunch of helpful and interesting links. Our Team USA spent a busy day yesterday and this morning and if we hear much directly from them I would be very surprised. Judy and I watched the live coverage of the opening ceremonies on ESPN Desportes. We searched for our Team USA but I guess they didn't know we were watching. The broadcast was in Spanish so we understood just a bit of it and whenever anyone would speak English the considerate announcer would translate it to Spanish and lower the English volume. It was beautiful and we really didn't need too much help understanding the whole thing. And we videotaped it. All 2 hours and 20 minutes. I can't remember that last time I taped off the TV and I had to run around and find a cable to do it! ESPN Desportes
has begun to broadcast the live coverage on the internet. http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/oly/panam07/popupVideo?s=1#Page_1 Fran Jurga wrote a beautiful article about Street Sense (2007 Kentucky Derby winner) and Sagacious HF. http://special.equisearch.com/blog/horsehealth/2007/07/from-one-champion-to- another-street.html Yesterday was the jog. All good news as far as that went. Fran has a report from the USEF on the job: http://special.equisearch.com/blog/horsehealth/2007/07/pag-07-usef-report-on -fridays-dressage.html You may have to copy and paste these long links into your browser or go to our Pan Am links page: http://wwww/hyperionfarm.com/opt6-PanAm.asp Now that the Games have begun, there are lots of folks on site who will be blogging and I will point you to some of them: Joanie Morris's Blog- a USEF representative at Rio - excellent on site report. http://www.usef.org/panams/joblog.php Latest score information will be posted on the USEF Pan Am Games website: http://www.usef.org/panams/results.aspx?pg=1 The USEF Media Guide for the Pan Am Games is available for download. It has extensive biographical information on the riders. http://www.usef.org/panams/images/PanAm_Games.pdf The first to ride today was Lauren. Her ride time was 10:10 AM. That's enough time for the judges to have settled in and have some horses to compare her with and not to late so they get bored! Go girl! See the notes below for an on the scene report!I'll post Kate and Chris' ride times as soon as I get them. Here are the Notes from Rio today: 1.
