Engemann Wins First Competition of Sparkasse-Youngsters-Cup

German Victory in the Jumping Competition for Young Horses

Sparkasse-Youngsters-Cup WinnerShe is seven years old, is Westphalian-bred and left her fellow competitors in the first Sparkasse-Youngsters-Cup at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2007, far behind: Late Night, a Lancer III x Dinard L mare jumped clear in 62.93 seconds. "She has been at my stables since she was four. She already won two competitions in La Baule and came second in the finals and she has even improved her performance here. She is a very courageous, willing horse and is one of my aspiring young horses for the future," reported Engemann (48), who lives in Bissendorf, near Osnabrück.

Merry Chrismas, the Sachsen mare ridden by Rene Tebbel, finished second. The pair also finished the course without collecting any faults in a time of 63.19 seconds. The chestnut mare descends from Kolibri, who was considered to be the most successful producer of jumping horses in the former GDR states. Third place also went to Germany - namely Franke Sloothaak claimed this ranking with the eight-year-old Lordanos x Gimpel grey mare, Lou (63.94 seconds), ahead of the British rider Nick Skelton in fourth place. He rode the Holsteiner Concas, a seven-year-old Contender x Caletto II stallion. 27 horses took part in the competition in total.
