2006 CHIO Aachen Youngsters from abroad unbeatable
Aachen press release - posted May 18, 2006 On the way into the top classes of the sport: The seven and eight-year-old young horses proved what they were made of in the Miele Youngsters Cup. A Selle Francais gelding bred in France took the victory: The eight-year-old Koby du Vartellier by Espoir Breceen and his Swiss rider, Pius Schwizer, jumped a clear round in the fastest time. Schwizer, who runs a training & sales stable close to Lucerne, acquired the horse as a five-year-old. The horse has competed at two World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken and won the Grand Prix of Truccazano (Italy) just a few weeks ago. Puis Schwizer (43) swarms: "It is going to be a perfect horse for top competitions, because he is a great fighter with enormous potential." Second place in the Miele Youngsters Cup also went to a foreign horse: Christian Ahlmann presented his upcoming youngster Sebastian, a seven-year-old gelding by Lux, bred in the Netherlands. The bay horse has been at his stables since December. He tried him out in the Netherlands last autumn, but initially the horse's breeder and owner couldn't decide whether to sell him or not. In the meantime, the parties were able to come to an agreement. Christian Ahlmann's sponsor, Marion Jauß, purchased the gelding in the spring. The young horse has already passed his trial period with flying colours. He won several competitions for young horses with Ahlmann in Arezzo, Italy. "I am very convinced by this horse and am thrilled that I managed to get him in the end," the 31-year-old commented. A further French horse finished third. Laurent Goffinet (France) completed the course without faults in the third best time with the eight-year-old mare Ketmye du Bois by Diamant de Semilly. |
