2006 CHIO Aachen

Grand Prix Spécial: Elvis is still the "King"
Kyra Kyrklund and Max second again

Aachen press release - posted May 20, 2006

The second competition of the CDIO, Grand Prix Spécial (Uniroyal Prize) was also dominated by the local rider, Nadine Capellmann with Elvis. The 40-year-old reigning World Champion once again took first place with her ten-year-old Hanoverian Espri son (76.24 percent). Like the driving and show jumping competitions, the dressage competition equally suffered from the terrible rainfall on Saturday lunchtime.

Having already warmed up for a length of time, Elvis had to return to the stables after torrential rain made it impossible to continue with the competition. After the "compulsory break", the chestnut gelding was rather frisky, but didn't let his rider down. Nadine Capellmann relieved: I am so glad, that I got through the canter tour without any mistakes."

There were no surprises in the next two rankings of the Grand Prix Spécial: As in the Grand Prix the Finnish rider, Kyra Kyrklund, finished second with the Swedish gelding Max (75,360).
