By Charlene Strickland

Las Vegas, April 23, 2005.

Anky Van Grunsven winning her seventh World Cup title on Keltec SalineroFour top horses—all scoring in the 80s—proved tonight that the art of dressage can be exciting. Every rider presented a sophisticated program, blending the required movements with music matched to the horse's personality. The artistry and technical difficulty of their freestyles awed judges and spectators alike.

The level of riding continues to heighten, with Anky Van Grunsven winning her seventh World Cup title on Keltec Salinero. Even with an incredible score of 86.725, she wasn't far ahead of her countryman, Edward Gal on Geldnet Lingh (85.225).

Debbie McDonald, in third place, scored first on the applause meter, with the U.S. fans roaring their approval of the U.S. favorite (83.450). Even the fans of Brentina would have a tough time picking who had the best go, with the top four all excellent in their rides.
