2005 USEF Annual Convention

Continuing Eduction Program

by Diana DeRosa

Mary SmithJanuary 15, 2005 – Louisville, KY – There’s so much good “stuff” happening at the USEF Convention and so much that has been in place for years. Part of the learning curve may not be the most fun but I do believe that knowing more about what the USEF offers each and every member is important for you to know. So, fasten your seat belts and steel yourselves for this report. It won’t be light or fun or new but it will give you knowledge about the Educational system of the USEF and why you should consider taking some of these courses in the future.

The USEF calls it their “Continuing Education Program” and its goal is to “educate the Judges, Stewards, Course Designers and Technical Delegates of the many different breeds and disciplines that are under the umbrella of the USEF,” explains Mary Smith, USEF Director of Licensed Officials. This is done through clinics given in various locations. While the purpose of these clinics is educational the end result is that it serves as a way for new blood to earn licenses as they work their way through the system and for those officials who already are credentialed to fulfill the requirements needed to maintain their licenses as established by the USEF and often in conjunction with their affiliates.
