Anja Plonzke "Full Speed" to CDI Kur Victory

August 26, 2005

Anja Plönzke and her Trakehner stallion Solero TSF (by Hyllos x Polargeist) rode "full speed" to victory in the CDI Grand Prix Freestyle. With a spectacular extended canter, almost a race gallop, on the center line before halting and saluting, Plonzke finished her kur ride which was ridden to upbeat Eminem rap music. She was the last to start in the kur under floodlights on Friday evening and scored the highest.

The 36-year-old rider took the spectators' and judges' breath away with her final top speed canter and received great jubilation and standing ovations from the crowd and 76.6 percent from the judges. It was the first time in Anja Plönzke's career that she won in the CHIO dressage arena.

Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff achieved the second best result with the 14-year-old Oldenburg bred Rubinstein son, Renoir-Unicef (74.325), ahead of the Dutch rider, Edward Gal, aboard the Trakehner stallion Gribaldi (by Kostolonay x Ibikus). Gribaldi spooked and lost his concentration in several of the movements which pushed the score down to a 73.1%. The Dutch European Team rider rode Gribaldi to Lingh's old kur to Music with the Indian tribe theme.
