SICAB
International
Glamour Amongst Spanish Horses
Saturday,
November 30 - In keeping with the tradition of previous years, SICAB
brought together stars from the equestrian world and the world of entertainment.
Notably, The Duchess of Alba and Curro Romero took charge of 'the reins'
at the official opening ceremony. Likewise international actresses like
Catherine Deneuve, who took part in the opening of the SICAB show and
presented a prize to Rafael Lemos, photographer and honoury member of
ANCCE, were seen rubbing shoulders with the likes of Spanish actress
Ines Sastre, Norma Duval, Victoria Vera, Blanca Romero and her husband
Cayetano Rivera amongst others. This dash of glamour attracted a buzz
of media attention from the Spanish tabloid press and featured heavily
in the following days network celebrity TV shows. As part of other proceedings
on the Saturday night show was the paying of an emotional homage to
Señor D. Alvaro Domecq Romero, in thanks and recognition of his tireless
work and dedication to the PRE cause. The audience were invited to remember
that it was only two months ago that two of his horses (which were bred
in Los Alburejos) classified within the world top 25 horses at the finals
of the World Games of Dressage in Jerez. No other Spanish breeder has
achieved such internationally recognised success in the history of Spanish
horse breeding.
SICAB 2002
and ANCCE also highlighted the tremendous work done by the Andalusian
Royal School of the Equestrian Art for their continued efforts in publicising
the Spanish purebred horse to a wider audience, particularly those like
Invasor, Granadero and riders like Rafael Soto, Ignacio Rambla who all
form a part of the rich history of Spanish horsemanship.
