Daily Dish- Rolex FEI World Cup Finals 2007
Beat
Mandli Won the Show Jumping Finals
It was a strange week for the show jumpers; a week of highs and lows. For the American riders on their own turf the results should have been better but that was not to be this time around. Richard Spooner and Cristallo were 24th. Mandy Porter on Summer was 21st. Molly Ashe and Schuyler Riley tied for 19th; Kate Levy was 18th, Margie Engle 17th, Lauren Hough 16th, and McLain Ward 8th. While Beat Mandli was the ultimate winner it wasn't until the very last horse knocked down a rail that his victory was determined. When I think back over these past few days, there are so many things that jump out at me about this class. First and foremost was the spill that Meredith Beerbaum took off of Shutterfly. It was the third to last fence in the course - a wide liverpool. Her horse jumped the fence extremely scopey and it was hard to figure out what happened. It almost appeared as though the horse was starting to turn left when they needed to go right and Meredith couldn't get him back quickly enough and in that struggle ended up somersaulting to the ground. It all happened so fast that even she couldn't remember but it was the end of her chance at another victory. DeRosa Photo: Beat Mandli |
