Sharn Wordley Claims Leading Rider Bonus with Win in the $25,000 Grand Prix of Arkansas

Sharn Wordley claimed first and second place in the $25,000 Grand Prix of Arkansas at the new Steppin' in High Cotton show. Flashpoint PhotographyLeachville, AR—Sharn Wordley took home armfuls of prizes this past weekend at the “Stepping in High Cotton Horse Show,” a new show in Leachville, Arkansas. Not only did he win the $10,000 Welcome Stake and the $25,000 Grand Prix of Arkansas, but he also took home the $5,000 Leading Rider Bonus for most prize money won during the three-week circuit that also included the Smoky Mountain Fall Gathering I and II.

The grand prix victory came on Epsom Pierrerille, a Selle Francais gelding, and was Wordley’s 32nd grand prix victory in the past two and one-half years. He also finished second with Mr. Flanagan. “The horses jumped really well and it was a good competition,” Wordley said. “This was a lovely show in a very beautiful setting.” The event was held at the Adams Estate Gardens, a cotton plantation with Italian gardens. “It was a real pleasure showing the horses in such an elegant location,” Wordley commented.

This grand prix victory also puts Wordley in serious contention for the $25,000 leading rider bonus offered by Tommy McIntyre and his Equine Productions Inc. “The riders have been very supportive of my shows over the years, and I really wanted to give something back,” McIntyre said of his decision to offer the bonus. Plans call for an even larger bonus next year. Check out www.equineproductionsinc.com for more information on the rider bonus.

Wordley is now based out of The Westwind Equine Training Center in Friendsville, Tennessee.
