Sunday, January 28, 2006 Louis Jacobs and Caucalis Capture Show Jumping Hall of Fame Amateur Classic On Saturday morning, forty top Amateur Owner jumper riders took the field for the first $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classic of the 2006 season. The class was scored under Table II, Sec. 2(a) Time First Jump-Off. Six of the forty competitors advanced to the tiebreaker. Louis Jacobs and Caucalis, owned by the Deeridge Farm edged Megan Lamaze and Stoney Hill’s Cocktail for the victory. They were the only two horse and rider combinations to go double clear. The margin of victory was .44 seconds. Jacobs flew through the timers in 40.723 seconds with Lamaze just behind in 41.168 seconds. “He’s a super horse,” said Jacobs following today’s win. “Caucalis is very experienced at this sort of thing. My first objective was just to try to gallop real forward. I knew that Megan (Lamaze) and a lot of fast riders were coming after me so I knew I had to put something fairly competitive down, and luckily we left them up,” he said. “I thought it was a super course. Of course I thought it was super; my horse was terrific today,” he laughed. “But honestly whenever you get six clear and it’s a big deal class for us Amateurs, I think it should feel like a big deal to have a clear round. I think the course asked a lot of questions and in the end, it got a lot of competitive riders in the jump-off, so I think it did what it was intended to do.” Results Class 1025 - $10,000 High Amateur Owner Jumper – Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classic – 1-27-06 – Internationale Arena
