Wilhelm Genn Take Top Jumper Honors at Horse Shows by the Bay Series II
In the Main Hunter Ring it was Boggs Hill’s clients who swept the weekend hunter divisions as Carol Cone and her two mounts Glory Road and Harmony Bay were victorious in the Older Adult Hunter Division and Grand Slam Farm, LLC’s ponies, Touch of Silver and Holland Hill piloted by Rachel DeGabrielle were crowned Champion and Reserve Champion in the Medium Pony Hunters. Grand Hunter titles went to Fellini (Caitlyn Ziegler, Professional); Cologne (Don Graves, Amateur Owner); Glory Road (Cone, Adult); Avalon (Katie Krinsky, Children’s); Little Miss (Karla Kay Woch, Pony,); and Brown Eyed Girl (Sydney Turner, Junior). Hillside Farm and Friends sponsored the second annual “Hurricane Party” featuring Dr. Kim Breautigam and his band “The Saucecats” Friday night. The New Orleans sound band jammed all night long to a crowd of “Sauce Kittens” dancing to tunes including “Hot, Hot, Hot” and “Aiko, Aiko” among others. The CANTER (Communication Alliance for Networking Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses) charity fundraiser on Saturday raised over $5000 to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home horses in need. The Silent Auction and Golf Cart Raffle were emceed and hosted by Robbie Timmons and Jim Brandstetter from Detroit, Michigan. Kodiak Equipment, Williamsburg, MI, donated the custom designed JEEP body golf cart which was won by Michigan trainer Todd Neumann. “CANTER is thrilled to be able to participate in such prestigious a horse show and we look forward to returning next year for an even larger charity fundraiser,” said news anchor Timmons from W-XYZ, Detroit. Saturday’s events also included a comprehensive Kid’s Day, sponsored by Four Winds Equine Hospital, that offered a behind the scenes barn tour to local equestrian enthusiasts, a K9 Agility Demonstration provided by Northwest Classy K9 4H group, and a petting zoo hosted by the Leelanau 4H. Dean and Alexandra Rheinheimer of Traverse City, Michigan produce Horse Shows by the Bay Series I, II, and III during the month of July. The three week equestrian festival is sanctioned “AA” Hunters and 4 Star Jumpers by the United States Equestrian Federation. For more information please visit www.horseshowsbythebay.com.
