Over the Hill Farm’s Katie Hogan Wins in Large Pony Hunters-Cesery Cleans Up in Amateur Hunters at Biltmore Estate Summer Classic II
Eleven year old Katie Hogan of Tampa, FL, rode for the first time in the Large Pony Hunter division on her fancy grey pony, Hint of Blue. The pair won two classes and received second, third, and fourth place ribbons on their way to the championship in the division. Katie also piloted Just Have Fun to second place in the Pony Jumper stake class and reserve champion in the Pony Jumpers. Older sister Lauren Hogan also had a successful week. She and her incredible bay pony, Time to Talk, won the Large Pony Hunter Classic. Hogan picked up the ride on High Fashion for owners J&M King Trust and Laura King Kaplan for the blue ribbon in the Medium Pony Hunter Classic and received the reserve championship in the division. Lauren rode her own Thunder Jam to first and second place ribbons in the Pony Jumpers. The Small Pony Hunter division did not lack a winner from Over the Hill Farm. Kelcie Brophy rode Hi Lite for Redfield Farm and Bill Schaub to the championship in the division and the win in the Small Pony Hunter Classic. Their top ribbons also gave them the Grand Champion Pony Hunter award. In the same division, Brophy also rode Bill Schaub & Avera Ventures’ Fancy Feet to two blue ribbons and second place in the classic. Amateur rider Lee Cesery had a great week, as she came away with two championships. In the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over division, she and What D’Ya Know won two classes and received a second and fifth place ribbons. They were also third in the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic. In the 3’3” Children’s/Adult Hunter division, she took the tricolor with Toblerone and won their classic. In the professional divisions, rider Hunt Tosh won the Grand Champion Green Hunter award on Reveille, owned by Roberta Previ. Tosh also rode Bill Schaub’s Stroller to the reserve championship in the 3’3” Pre-Green Hunters, and it is only Stroller’s third show at the larger height. Foreign Exchange, owned by Emily Nickoloff and ridden by Michele Allison, won the championship in the Amateur Adult 18-35 division after they received the top call in two classes and were second in another class. Over the Hill Farm moved into the mountains this past week to show at the Blowing Rock Horse Show I.
