Hunters at the Tampa Bay Classic through Friday 3/25/05

Tampa, FL - March 25, 2005 - The rated hunters wrapped up on Friday with Scott Stewart and Ken Smith taking home championships in the Regular Conformation Hunters and Regular Working Hunters, respectively. Scott Stewart won five of six classes in route to the Regular Conformation Hunter Championship on Chopard, owned by Krista Weisman. Amanda Lyerly, aboard Sarah Ingle’s Hat Trick, picked the Reserve Championship.

In the Regular Working Hunters, Ken Smith and Westcliffe emerged as the Champion. Westcliffe, owned by Elizabeth and Christy Russo, won two classes over the two days of showing. Stewart, piloting Alexa Weisman’s Prove It, finished up with the Reserve tri-color.

Smith said that it was nice to have Westcliffe in the big division this week. “He jumped nice out of the mud today. I was really happy with him. This is the first time he’s done the four foot classes since World Hunter week so he was fresh and jumped great,” Smith explained. “We’ll do him sporadically in the big classes throughout the summer so we can qualify him for indoors.”

In the ASPCA Maclay, it was Hillary Dobbs with the equitation victory. Denise Wilson finished second, Jenna Vanerstrom third and Maria Schaub finished fourth.
