Sports Hypnotist Laura King Helps Jennifer Reid of Bainbridge Farms Prepare For Success
King recently helped Jennifer Reid of Bainbridge Farms in Wellington, FL. Reid visited King at her office in Wellington for sessions before she left for her major competitions this summer. Reid traveled to New York to compete in the Saratoga Classic in June and the Lake Placid Horse Show series on June 29- July 10, and wanted to learn how to relax and concentrate more before her classes. “Laura gave me some CDs to listen to and her book to read for when I was at the show,” Reid explained. “There are many different reasons that cause people to be nervous; it could be people watching, past mistakes at a certain horse show, wondering if your horse is prepared, or even success and expectations,” King acknowledged. “We figure out what the issue is and the direction in which we need to go.” “At the first show in Saratoga, I was having problems with focusing and relaxing,” Reid mentioned. “I stressed over little things, and I didn’t do as well in the show ring.” After buying a portable CD player, Reid then started listening to King’s CDs, which include “Basic Relaxation for the Equestrian,” “Fearless Showing and Jumping” and “Gaining Concentration for the Equestrian.” She used the CDs every night and morning before her classes, and after one day saw an improvement in the way she felt. “After that, I listened to the CDs for the next three weeks that I competed,” affirmed Reid. “When a rider is at a show, we work on that particular competition and the things that affect them. They stay focused in the moment, on one class or jump,” King maintained. King works with riders so that all the other outside effects do not interfere with the competition, called a “blocking effect.” She estimated that it is human nature for one to constantly critique themselves when engaged in a sport. “When you’re talking about the brain, it’s more you are what you think,” she remarked. “Every thought creates a physical action, so we try and figure out what the thoughts need to be to create a successful, worry-free ride every time.” By using King’s techniques, Jennifer Reid found that she was able to relax and concentrate on her horse and what she needed to do for each class. The effects of this paid off, as she and Jiminy Cricket were Reserve Champion in the Adult Amateur 18-35 Hunter division in the second week of the Saratoga Classic and the second week of Lake Placid. Jiminy Cricket is owned by Bainbridge Farms in Wellington, FL, which is owned by Richard Schechter, president and CEO of The Bainbridge Companies LLC. The highlight, however, was their championship at the first week of Lake Placid. “I have to thank Laura King for helping me. Using her methods made me relax and concentrate during my competitions and improved my performance at them,” Reid declared.
