Saugerties, NY- August 1- SBS Farms wrapped up the summer series at HITS-on-the-Hudson this past July 27-31 and had spectacular results all the way from the professional divisions down to the Pony Hunters.

Trainer/rider Jennifer Alfano rode the venerable GG Valentine for owner Barbara Kearney to the championship in the Regular Working Hunter division. “GG” won four out of five classes and was second in the fifth class to pick up the tricolor. Alfano herself provided her toughest competition in the division, as she won the reserve championship on Meredith Bartolone’s Once & Again.

Alfano and Charming repeated their performance from last week, as they took home the championship in the Green Conformation Hunter division again. Riding for owner Caroline Moran, Alfano and Charming won three out of five classes.

In the Pre-Green Hunters, Alfano and Jennifer Burger’s Breitling were reserve champions. The pair won two classes and received second and third place ribbons.

GG Valentine also competed with her owner, Barbara Kearney, in the Farnam Adult Amateur 46 & Over division. They were awarded the reserve championship after their solid performance in the division, where they placed first, second, third, and seventh.

Kacey McCann had a successful week in the Junior Hunter divisions. In the Small Junior 15 & Under Hunters, she rode By the Way for SBS Farms to the tricolor. By the Way and McCann won two classes and were second and fourth in the remaining classes. In the same division, she rode Charming to first, second, and fourth place finishes.

In the Large Junior 15 & Under division, McCann and Trebuchet, owned by Jonathan and Jeffrey Phillips, were reserve champions after picking up first, second, and third place ribbons. McCann also won the Equitation 14 & Under over fences class.

On her way to the championship in the Medium Pony Hunter division, Charlotte Jacobs rode Razzle Dazzle to two wins, and second, fourth, fifth, and eighth place finishes.

Trish Bookbinder and Tell the Truth won three out of four classes in the Farnam Adult Amateur 36-45 Hunter division and came home with the reserve championship. Lauren Bookbinder rode the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center’s Follow This to the win in the Children’s Hunter stake class and a fifth place finish over fences.

SBS Farms is currently competing in Saugerties, NY, for the Show Circuit Magazine/USEF National Junior Hunter East Coast Finals. Kacey McCann will ride for titles in the competitive championships on By the Way in the Small Junior division and Gandolf in the Large Junior division.

Trainer Susie Schoellkopf and the rest of the SBS Farms team are also preparing for the 59th Annual Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS), to be held at their home base in the Buffalo Equestrian Center, on September 14-18. The show is USEF rated and will benefit the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center.

The BIHS will feature a $2,000 Handy Hunter Classic and $1,500 Children/Adult Jumper Classic on Saturday evening. VIP seating in The Red Carpet Club and Box seats surrounding the indoor ring will also be available for the week. The show is great for equestrians to use in preparation for the fall indoor circuit and zone finals.
