Karen Healey Stables Dominates the Competition at The Oaks Spring Horse Shows

Photo by Paul Mason Photography.Thousand Oaks, CA- April 18, 2005 - Karen Healey Stables had an amazing three weeks at The Oaks Spring Horse Shows in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The riders garnered six championships, three reserve championships, top placings in the hunter and jumper classics and twelve top two finishes in the equitation and medal classes.

One of the most consistent performers was Touchstone, who is owned by LRW Farm. Touchstone was champion in the Second Year Green Hunters in week one and two and was reserve champion in week three with rider Jenny Karazissis. In week two, he also won the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunter championship and the Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic with Mary Ann Weisberg-Perry. Weisberg-Perry also rode Country Grammar in the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over division, where they picked up the tricolor in week one and the reserve championship in week two.

Karen Kay’s Santino and Lauren Kay were reserve champion in the Amateur-Owner 18-35 Hunters in week one, but improved their performance to pick up the championship in the division in week two. Karazissis also piloted Santino to a championship ribbon in the First Year Green Hunters in week one.

Lauren Hester had two successful weeks at The Oaks. She rode Oxford to second place in the $5,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic. On K2, she won the USEF Talent Search and the Washington International Horse Show equitation classic. With Timeless, she won the Equitation 15-17 flat class, and was second in the USEF Medal and ASPCA Maclay classes. In week two, Hester won the California Professional Horsemen’s Association Junior Medal.

Other wins in the equitation classes included Kristi Siam and Carmelo, who won the Foxfield Medal class in week one; Alison Lajoie, who won the CPHA Adult Medal and was second in the USEF Senior Medal in week two; and Caitlin Chapin, who won the USET Talent Search in week two. In week three, Torie Immel won the USEF Junior Medal and the hunter phase of the WIHS equitation classic, and ended up second overall in the WIHS class.

Good Time Charlie and Tammy Chipko are starting out the year right. They were second in the 6 Year Old Young Jumper Classic in week one. They came back in week two to win the Young Jumper Classic.

The Interscholastic Equestrian League Finals were held during week three of The Oaks Spring horse shows. Under the tutelage of Healey, fourteen year old Michelle Morris won the Varsity Medal Finals and was the Year-End Varsity High Point Hunter Rider. Gloria Sheller was the Year-End Varsity Overall High Point Rider.

Karen Healey Stables were very pleased with their success at The Oaks and want to keep up their winning ways when they attend the Showpark Spring Horse Show in Del Mar, CA on April 27 to May 1.
