Boston Pops Award Winner Tracy Silva to Sing the National Anthem at the 15th Year of the Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic - Tickets On Sale Now South Hamilton, MA - July 26, 2004 - The winner of the Boston Pops Talent Search competition, Tracy Silva of Taunton, MA will sing the National Anthem on Sunday, September 12, prior to the $50,000 Fidelity Investments Grand Prix in Hamilton, MA. To earn her title, Silva, 36, was picked out of a group of 750 competitors to come back and go head to head with the top 16 singers. Singing 'Fools Fall in Love' from 'Smokey Joe's Café', Silva wowed the judges with her clear delivery and sincere emotions. "Everyone in the top 16 had great voices," explained Silva, the mother of an 18 year-old son and 12 year-old daughter. "I just wanted to move the audience and touch people with my heart." Her husband, Christopher, works for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an auditor. Silva began singing within her family and in church. She is a member of the gospel group Love Divine, which also includes her brother, Brian. As a full-time profession, Silva is a bus driver for children with special needs. Leading up to the Boston Pops competition, her bus riders helped her sing and rehearse, and provided a lot of her inspiration to compete. This past week Silva sang the National Anthem at a Red Sox game, entertaining not only the vast crowd but Senator John Kerry, the likely democratic presidential candidate. The same day she shared her voice at the Boston Pops concert at Boston Plaza, and will be singing again with the Boston Pops on August 31. During August, she will appear in a major role in 'Big River' with the Company Theater in Norwell, MA. "We are thrilled to have Tracy Silva join us in our 15th anniversary year," shared Melissa Lovasco, President of the Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic. "Tracy shares her heart and soul every time she performs. To have her sing the National Anthem for us is a deep honor."
