Placid Horse Shows Continue to Give Back
Lake Placid, NY—September 20, 2004—The Lake Placid Horse Shows, which come galloping into the village of Lake Placid each year, leave behind a lot more than just hoof prints. Continuing the horse shows’ long-standing policy of giving back to the community, they are once again donating to many people and groups who will benefit from the event. For approximately fifteen years, the Lake Placid Horse Show Association (LPHSA) has spent $3.5 million on the North Elba Show Grounds, a public facility owned by the town of North Elba. IN addition, the horse shows make donations to appropriate local groups and organizations. Some of the beneficiaries of previous Lake Placid Horse Shows include the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, Lake Placid Fire Department, Lake Placid Library, Lake Placid Youth Center, Lake Placid Center for the Arts and the Lake Placid Police Department, just to name a few. At the horse shows’ close this year, the LPHSA announced that it would make improvements to fields used by the Lake Placid Central Schools. This direct support of budding local athletes of all sports and disciplines is one of the ways the LPHSA gives back to the town that has helped it to flourish for so many years. “Whenever the horse show is able to turn a profit, we put all of the money back into the facility and into the town,” said Lake Placid Horse Show Association Chairman Richard M. Feldman. “Each year we do something to upgrade the show grounds so that it benefits the horse show exhibitors as well as townspeople who make use of the facility throughout the year. This year, we are spending a great deal to make improvements to the horse show grounds. We also donate money to the town to help in other areas that may need improvements.” With a list of such improvements in mind, the LPHSA gave thought to a wide range of other projects to help the community. This year, one of the first to be done is the paving of the parking lot at the school district’s athletic fields. Although not an exciting project, it is a good example of the LPHSA contributing something to the people and events of the area that all groups will be able to use for years to come. “Ultimately, we intend to help re-grade playing fields, rebuild the track, improve lighting and do whatever else is necessary to give Lake Placid’s young athletes a first-class facility,” Feldman said. Horse show exhibitors can take great pride that their support of the Lake Placid Horse Shows is helping the community they love so much.” For further information on the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows, please call the Lake Placid Horse Show Association at (518) 523-9625 or visit www.lakeplacidhorseshow.com. |
