Tampa, FL—August 4, 2003—The warm summer months of June and July brought several exciting changes to the leader board in the 2003 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series. Evan Coluccio of Middleburg, VA; Robert Kraut of Oconomowoc, WI; Randy Sherman of Pasadena, CA; and Nicole LaMott of Laguna Hills, CA, held the mid-summer lead in the standings in their respective divisions.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Junior Division

Evan Coluccio of Middleburg, VA, riding Romeo, took over the lead from Leigh Healey of Mt. Holly, NJ, in the junior division of the East Conference. The move was due, in part, to a win in the $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Talent Derby, presented by BET On Jazz, at the Bayer/U.S. Equestrian Team Festival of Champions, presented by State Line Tack, in Gladstone, NJ, on June 22.

He took the lead in the Series standings ahead of Melissa Orlick-Zbierski of Woodstock, IL, and her mount Intersat Floyd and Haylie Jayne of Elgin, IL, with Kinda Blue.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

Robert Kraut of Oconomowoc, WI, aboard Caviar, increased his lead in the amateur-owner division standings in the East Conference with a second place finish in the $5,500 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at the Kentucky Summer Horse Show in Lexington, KY, on July 27.

Rebecca Astrom of Reddick, FL, and Jolien, took over the second spot from Tani Anderson of Middleburg, VA, and her horse Illusion, dropping them to third. Anderson and Illusion had been in second since the end of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida in March.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Junior Division

Randy Sherman of Pasadena, CA, with Cuervo Nero, captured the top spot in the junior division of the West Conference in a big way during June and July. Sherman won Hall of Fame Series classes on consecutive weekends in June. The first was the $7,500 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at the Showpark June Jamboree, June 1 in Del Mar, CA, and the second class was the $7,500 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at the Oaks Blenheim Classic in San Juan Capistrano, CA, on June 7.

Taking over the second slot was Katy Brandes of San Juan Capistrano, CA, riding Odessa. Following Brandes, and moving up to third position from her previous fifth, was Katie Gardner of Westlake Village, CA, and Ce Ce Capone.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

In the West Conference’s amateur-owner division, there has been a great deal of shuffling of positions, but Nicole LaMott of Laguna Hills, CA, and Laredo, maintained a narrow lead over Fred Bauer of Millbrae, CA, who moved up from third to second with his mount Marble Arch.

A latecomer to the 2003 Series, Ashley Woodhouse of Wayzata, MN, riding Pacifico, took over the third spot in the standings thanks to a win in the Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at the Colorado Circuit Preview in Parker, CO, on June 29, as well as two top-12 finishes in the 10 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series classes held in the West in June and July.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. It was organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends of the men, women and horses who have made great contributions to the sport.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame also conducts the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, held under Grand Prix rules and specifications. The Series, which is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Horse Sports Foundation, holds classes at more than 70 horse shows across the country. It is designed to give amateur-owner and junior riders an opportunity to compete at higher levels and serves as a proving ground for many riders who aspire to someday represent the United States in international competition.
