Competitors Show Their Support With Flag on Saddle Pads
Tampa, FL March 25 The $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational will be contested on Saturday evening at 7:00 pm in Raymond James Stadium. Along with many Americans, the riders competing on Saturday evening are feeling very patriotic. To show their support for their country at this time, the American riders will be wearing U.S. flags attached to their saddle pads. This is not the norm but due to current circumstances in the world, the riders want to show their support and appreciation of American troops and their families.
There will be foreign riders competing, including riders from Germany, France, Ireland, Canada and Argentina. However, at this time the top five qualifiers are all American born and bred riders. Two-time winner and defending Champion, Molly Ashe is an American residing in Wellington, Florida and Ancrondale, New York.
Thirty riders will compete on Saturday evening at what is known as not only the highlight of the Winter Equestrian Festival but as the top annual competition in this country. In addition, President Gene Mische states, it is the richest purse of any Grand Prix in this nation.
