Calgary, AB -February 14, 2003 - A full slate of hunter and jumper shows has been scheduled at Anderson Ranch, located just south of Spruce Meadows in Calgary. Recent changes at the family-run venue, owned by well known Alberta businessman and philanthropist J.C. Anderson, had led to speculation about the future of competitions there.

However, Anderson has confirmed that although his son John, who ran shows at the venue under the banner of his company, Tyrrell Farms, has "left to do other things", the shows are going on. Another son, Bryan, one of the four Anderson siblings who have all been members of the Canadian Equestrian Team, will be staging and managing the shows this year, although he said it really will be a "family affair".

With a winter Training Series already underway, The Spring and Summer show schedule will begin with the Ranchlands Spring Classic May 15-18. That will be followed by the Andersons’ premiere tournament, The Foothills Show Jumping Classic. It will run on the traditional dates of the former Rocky Mountain Classic, June 11 to 15, the week following the Spruce Meadows National Tournament. As usual, it will attract many of the top national and international riders that traditionally come to the area for the six-week period that takes in several Spruce Meadows tournaments

The Foothills Country Classic will run June 19 to 22. A new date has also been added to the facility’s show schedule. The Ranchlands Summer Classic will run August 14 to 17.

J.C. Anderson recently acquired additional land west of the show facility. An overall plan to improve the facility, long known for its excellent competition rings amidst a pastoral setting, includes building more permanent stalls for show competitors.
