Nations Cup Preview CSIO Lucerne (SUI) and CSIO Modena (ITA) CSIO Lucerne (SUI) The next Samsung Nations Cup will be held in Lucerne on Sunday 4 June. The Horse Show in Lucerne dates back to 1909 when the local Renn-Club added an international jumping show to its already famous races. Held until 1914 the Lucerne show immediately became on of the top events in the then still thin international calendar. The first nations cup was held in 1927 on the showground Hausermatte. After World War II, Lucerne was held in the even years, alternating the Swiss Nations Cup in Geneva. In 1980 the show moved to the Allmend, alternating with St. Gallen. There are 12 teams competing in this years Samsung Nations Cup Series in Lucerne; Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, Holland, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, and Austria. CSIO Modena (ITA) From the passion of the Maestro Luciano Pavarotti for equestrian sports the Club Europa was founded in the 80s and, since 1991, it has been hosting the CSIO Pavarotti International. The celebrated concert "Pavarotti & Friends" and the ensuing "Pavarotti International - CSIO Modena", in which the world's best riders participate, had now become part of a tradition and honors the city of Modena with a twofold prestigious event of international relevance. The Samsung Nations Cup will take place on the 9th June, with the 1st round starting at 16.45. There are nine teams; Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland, competing in the Samsung Nations Cup class on Friday afternoon. Eurosport will show a highlight programme of the Samsung Nations Cup from Modena on Saturday the 10th June between 09.00-10.00.
