Posted April 24, 2006 NRBC Closes As Tricia Hamilton Wins NRBC $5K Non Pro The 2006 National Reining Breeders Classic concluded Sunday, April 23, at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. Sunday’s schedule featured horse show classes highlighted by the $5,000-added Non Pro, which Tricia Hamilton, of Scottsdale, Arizona, won riding Lenas Taxman. Tricia drew up early to mark the competition’s high score – a 220.5 – riding Lenas Taxman, by Lenas Wright on and out of Zans Light Sparkles, owned by her parents, Bob and Linda Hamilton. “He ran very hard, stopped really well, turned well; he was just fun to show,” Linda said following her run. “He’s always the same and he tries hard. He’s my buddy.” Tricia and Lenas Taxman tied for the 2005 NRHA Limited Open Derby Reserve Championship and made the Open Finals. Linda Hamilton then showed the sorrel gelding to the AQHA Select Reining World Championship last fall. The $2,000-added Open followed the Non Pro with Jordan Larson and Pete Kyle each marking a 216.5. Pete, from Whitesboro, Texas, and Jordan, also of Whitesboro, opted to share the championship instead of having a run-off for the win. Pete rode Bueno San Lena, by Tejons Peppy Doc and out of Amarilla Chex, owned by Kimberly Wang Unlimited of Kaliva, Hawaii, while Jordan rode Custom Nifty Nic, by Custom Crome and out of Brennas Nifty Nic, for owner Carl Lambert of Hempstead, Texas.
