Gail Klapper Enrolls First 2005 NRBC Foal

Byars, Oklahoma – March 18, 2005 - In the past nine years, enrolling foals into the National Reining Breeders Classic program has become an integral part of raising reining horse prospects and over 2,000 people annually send in NRBC enrollments.

The first deadline is not until September 15, but one special foal was already enrolled by mid-February.

Gail Klapper sent in the application for a foal by Remin Whiz out of JSM Sunny Delite that became the first 2005 foal enrollment received at the NRBC Headquarters Office. When contacted with the news, she noted, “That's really appropriate - we’ve been to the NRBC about every year. It’s really one of the best shows there is!”

Klapper, an attorney, got the reining bug after tenure as a horse show mom. A dozen years later, she’s hooked on reining, and on the excitement of breeding good horses. Her 6K Ranch in Elbert, Colorado, a training/breeding operation headed up by trainer Shane Kelley, is also home to a tack shop that supplies tack for reiners.

Klapper and Kelley feel that the NRBC Enrollment is a selling point for the foals produced by her 6K Ranch in Elbert, Colorado, but this particular baby is not on the sale list. JSM Sunny Delite is an NRHA money earner and the dark filly is her first foal. “This one is special. We love the NRBC and wanted to make sure she was eligible.”

“We always send in our foal enrollments as soon as the babies are born, but this is the earliest baby we’ve ever had!”

The NRBC Show, slated for April 19-24 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, pays off nearly a million dollars a year. In 2004, the Classic paid prize money to people from 26 different states and three Canadian Provinces with winners from Massachusetts to California!
