National Reining Breeders Classic Entries Have a Chance for Messina Hof Wine Tasting Tour March 10, 2005 - Each entry at the National Reining Breeders Classic, April 19-24, will have a special extra incentive! Thanks to the generosity of NRBC Official Winery, Messina Hof, every entry in every class at the NRBC receives one chance in a special drawing to be held at the conclusion of the event on Sunday, April 24. The winner of the drawing will be able to take up to 19 or his or her friends along for a special private tour and wine-tasting at Messina Hof. Located in Bryan, Texas, just an hour and a half from Katy, the site of the National Reining Breeders Classic, Messina Hof Winery & Resort has a 200-year history of award-winning wines. Although the winery itself was officially established when it released its first vintage 22 years ago, the rich wine heritage of Winemaker Paul Bonarrigo dates back six generations to Messina, Sicily. Merrill Bonarrigo's family originates from Hof, Germany. Together they became pioneers in the Texas Wine Industry, creating premium wines of distinction and a landmark wine country destination. Messina Hof wine will be served at special events during the NRBC and one of the wines featured will be Messina Hof’s Johannesburg Riesling. This wine was chosen as Grand Champion during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition which featured over 1300 wines from all over the world! The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just eight years, the NRBC has grown to include over 275 subscribed stallions and over 16,000 enrolled foals, and the payout at the 2004 National Reining Breeders Classic was over $900,000.
