Hollywood Dun It Crosses $4 Million Mark

Byers, OK - December 9, 2004 - Hollywood Dun It has been a dominating force in the reining industry for the past two decades and as the 2004 National Reining Horse Association Futurity came to a close on December 4, his foals carried him to another incredible achievement in his already sterling career.

With the Open Finals Performance of the 2004 Futurity, the National Reining Horse Association’s All Time Leading Sire of Reining Horses crossed the $4 Million pinnacle.

At the beginning of the NRHA Futurity, Hollywood Dun It was only $52,604 away from becoming the National Reining Horse Association’s only $4 Million Sire. The first big boost to that goal came during the Reining Masters event on Thursday night, when Todd Crawford rode Matt Dillon Dun It owned by 3 Peaks Ranch, of Bend, Oregon, to a blistering 220.5 score. That earned the Masters Championship, and nearly $18,000. Dario Carmignani of Italy rode another Hollywood Dun It son, Footworks Finest, in that competition, adding $3,223.

On Friday, Mandy McCutcheon rode A Dozen Dun Its, owned by Tim McQuay, and her own Dun It Some Moore, to Non Pro Finals earnings, as did Ginger Schmersal on BS Syndicate’s Dun It Reining. Their placings brought the goal even nearer.

More earnings came in Saturday’s Intermediate Open Finals, with the finals placings of Ann Salmon on A Bueno Poco Dunit owned by Sandi Harting and Terry Thompson on Skeets Dun It owned by Paul Stewart.

Hollywood Dun It owner Tim McQuay began to close the door on the accomplishment in the Open Finals on Saturday night, with his score of 217.5 on Hollywood Downtown, owned by David J. Silva, Senior. That would place fourteenth and earn over $10,000, and another $1300 plus in the Prime Time division. The good gelding would ultimately garner another $7,300 in the NRHA Gelding Incentive, as well.

California trainer Roberta McCarty’s finals ride scoring 218 on Chexie Dun it owned by Dottie and Bill Harako, pushed Hollywood Dun It well over the top.

McCarty was excited when she found out, shortly after her finals run, that she had helped achieve the landmark goal. “I love Dun Its. I have so much confidence in them and buy them for myself and for my Non Pros. In the goes here, I needed a high score in the second round to make it to the finals. I knew I could bank on the stop because I was riding a Dun It!”

Hollywood Dun It owners Tim and Colleen McQuay and Jennifer Easton were thrilled with the accomplishment and quick to thank the many owners and trainers who have put their faith in the flashy dun stallion.

McQuay noted, “It goes without saying that everything Hollywood Dun It is due, in great part, to the owners and riders who have supported him. We thank all those who have ridden and shown Hollywood Dun It foals.”

Hollywood Dun It’s thirteen foal crops have won the NRHA Futurity, NRHA Derby and Superstakes, the National Reining Breeders Classic, All American Quarter Horse Congress Futurity, Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity, the Tradition Futurity and numerous others. They've qualified and won gold medals in United States Equestrian Team competition and earned American Quarter Horse Association World Championships, as well. They've also excelled out of the reining discipline, earning a Non Pro Reserve Championship at the National Reined Cow Horse Association World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity and NRCHA World Championship. They’ve also collected National Cutting Horse Association dollars and there are even Champion roping and driving Dun Its!

Hollywood Dun It was selected as the first Breyer Animal Creations reining horse in 1998, and in 2002 his son, Dun Gotta Gun, was also similarly honored as a Breyer collectible. The large volume of sales of the Hollywood Dun It model have resulted in it being declared an Official Collectors' Item and taken out of production.

Hollywood Dun It stands at McQuay Stables in Tioga, Texas and he is the senior sire in a stallion lineup that includes four of his sons.
