Todd Crawford Wins the $75,000 Bayer/USEF Open Reining Championship

Lexington, KY - May 25, 2004 - Todd Crawford and his mount Matt Dillon Dun It, owned by 3 Peaks Ranch, Bend Oregon, won the $75,000 Bayer/USEF Open Reining Championship during International Day at the 2004 NRHA Derby with a score of 228.5. This win raises Crawford’s lifetime earnings to $94,636.56.

Todd Sommers aboard Remin Whiz, owned by Lucy Van Swearingen, was crowned reserve champion with a score of 226. Scott McCutcheon, a member of the 2002 World Equestrian Games Gold Medal Reining Team, rode Brad Hattig’s Steady’s Dude to take 3rd place.

NRHA Hall of Famers Bill Horn and Trashadeous rode their way to 4th place with a score of 222. Horn was awarded the Don Burt award for being the highest placed rider in the Open Championship not in the top 50 of the USEF Reining Long List.

Riders were competing for not only the Bayer/USEF Open Reining Championship but also for a chance to go to the FEI World Reining Masters Final to be held at the NRHA Futurity and Championship Show this fall. Two riders from the United States will be selected based on total monies earned at International Reining Competitions (CRI’s) held this year. At the Futurity riders from all over the world will come to Oklahoma City, OK to vie for the title of World Reining Master! The purse will be big ($100,000) and the Reining exciting so be sure to make plans to attend this spectacular event!
