NRCHA World Championship Show Schedule Announced

Midland, TX - November 14, 2003 - The National Reined Cow Horse Association's first-ever World Championship Show, scheduled for February 25-28, is just around the corner and preparations have already begun, according to NRCHA Director Larry Bell, of Midland, Texas.

The show takes place at Lone Star Arena in Stephenville, Texas and will be held concurrently with the Circle Y Ranch Derby for 4- and 5-year-old cow horses, hosted by the Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association.

According to NRCHA and SRCHA Director Larry Bell, the week will be filled with activities. "World championship competition begins on Wednesday afternoon (following the herd work of the Circle Y Ranch Derby) with the Open Hackamore, Limited Open Hackamore, Non Pro Hackamore and Open Two-Rein Preliminary rounds," Bell explained.

The next morning the Open Bridle, Limited Open Bridle, Non Pro Bridle, Novice Non Pro Bridle and Non Pro Limited Classes will start at 8 am.

On Friday, the day starts at 9 am with the World Championship Limited Open Hackamore Finals, Open Two Rein Finals, Limited Open Bridle Finals, Novice Non Pro Bridle Finals and Non Pro Limited Finals. Those classes are followed by the Youth preliminaries.

On Saturday, following the Circle Y Ranch Derby Cow Work, the World Championships will be decided in the Youth Limited, Youth Bridle, Non Pro Hackamore, Open Hackamore, Non Pro Bridle and Open Bridle Classes.

All World Show qualifiers will compete in the first round of competition, then the top ten in each class advance to the second round. The composite of both goes determines final placing.

At the conclusion of the NRCHA World Show competition, the winners of the show will become the 2003 NRCHA World Champions and will be honored at a banquet on Saturday evening. Slated to begin at 7:30 pm, the banquet will be held at City Limits Restaurant in Stephenville.

Also recognized at the Year-end Banquet will be the NRCHA National Champions, as well as the new NRCHA Merit Award recipients.
